Air Fryer Recipes - Pasta Chips
I've been meaning to try out a recent viral trend recipe for sometime now - Pasta Chips, a new addition to a line of food items designed to piss off Italians.
This one is rather simple and kind of healthy I guess. The recipe here is my interpretation of a few versions I saw online.
Lets begin
- Boil Pasta in salted water (Farfalle in this case).
- Once the Pasta is al dente, strain it. We dont need the pasta water for this recipe unlike say a regular Pasta dish.
- Let the pasta cool down a bit before adding your seasoning
- Add oregano, salt, chilli flakes to your taste - And the trick here is to add more than what you personally think is sufficient. There is no sauce here to contain the flavour and the pasta in itself is quite bland. So be generous with the seasoning
- Add 1-2 Table spoons of Olive Oil to help with the air frying. Should probably work without it as well but you may not get as nice and crispy a texture to the chips without doing this.
- Pre heat the Air Fryer for a good 5 minutes at 180-200 C. This will help in the cooking process
- Add your marinaded pasta to the Air Fryer tray and proceed to air fry it for 7-10 minutes at the same temperature.
- You can stop in between to give the chips a nice shake so that they can be fried evenly
- Be patient here since many recipes on the internet suggest that the chips would be ready within 5 minutes. Looks like it might actually be closer to 15 minutes if you'd want that nice crip texture. The tip here is to keep checking, first after 5 min and then every 3 minutes or so.
- Once fried to your liking, put the chips in an open container till they cool down. Only then do you close the container. This helps maintain the crispiness.
- Have a taste and season it more if required.
- Enjoy plainor with a nice dip /chutney
