Vegan Steak Recipes - Part 1
Southern USA Style Vegan Chickpea-Tempeh Steak
Ingredients:
- 1 cup chickpeas, cooked and mashed
- 1 cup tempeh, grated
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- 1 tsp dried thyme
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/2 cup vegetable broth
Instructions:
- In a large bowl, combine mashed chickpeas, grated tempeh, onion, garlic, smoked paprika, thyme, black pepper, salt, and soy sauce. Mix well.
- Gradually add breadcrumbs and vegetable broth to the mixture, stirring until the mixture is firm enough to form into steaks.
- Shape the mixture into steak-sized patties.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook the steaks for 4-5 minutes on each side or until golden brown and crispy.
- Serve hot with your choice of side dishes
