Vegan Steak Recipes - Part 2
South Indian Style Vegan Chickpea-Tempeh Steak
Ingredients:
- 1 cup chickpeas, cooked and mashed
- 1 cup tempeh, grated
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp mustard seeds
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp garam masala
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 green chilies, finely chopped
- A few curry leaves
- 2 tbsp coconut oil
- 1/2 cup rice flour
Instructions:
- In a large bowl, combine mashed chickpeas, grated tempeh, onion, garlic, mustard seeds, cumin seeds, turmeric powder, garam masala, salt, and green chilies. Mix well.
- Gradually add rice flour to the mixture, stirring until the mixture is firm enough to form into steaks.
- Shape the mixture into steak-sized patties.
- Heat coconut oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook the steaks for 4-5 minutes on each side or until golden brown.
- Garnish with curry leaves and serve hot with a side of rice.
